Since the last Newsletter in April, much has happened, and it is time to update our wonderful Sponsors on the news. As mentioned last time we were overwhelmed by the generous donations that were made in memory of our former Chairman, Stephen Doerr. After consultation with Cherno, the Clinic Administrator, it was decided to honour the memory of both Stephen and our original Chairman John Dale, by purchasing a much-needed ultrasound machine. This was sent out to The Gambia in early July and is already being put to good use, enhancing The Clinic’s ability to provide quality medical services.

It is now 4 months since we last wrote to you informing you of the sudden death of our Chairman, Stephen Doerr. He had been key in the running of AOJA and he has left a huge void to fill. His funeral, at
the beginning of January, was a fitting tribute, with a packed Church appropriately recognising his life and
many achievements. A Memorial Fund set up in Stephen’s name, has to date raised £1,000 and this will
be used appropriately in The Health Centre in Jeshwang Village.
